Description

Sanlucar de gaudiana is a picturesque authentic pueblo blanco (white village) on the banks of the beautiful rio guadiana, which forms the border between spain and portugal. near ayamonte, there are wonderful beaches. it is a 40 minute drive to the nearest aiport (faro in portugal) and one and half hours to seville airport.

Situated on the outskirts of the village in a quiet street, the house has extensive views to the castillo de san marcos, which overlooks the village, the surrounding countryside and across the river to portugal.

The house, which has been renovated sympathetically, is between 300 and 500 years old in parts and has authentic features including a donkey path, cane and beamed ceilings, original wooden doors, ceilings and floor planking with hand made nails, slate and tiled floors, and metre thick walls.

There are 4/5 bedrooms (the main bedroom having a dressing room attached), entrance hall, lounge, dining room, large kitchen with large storeroom attached, two bathrooms, mezzanine and covered terrace. outside to the rear of the house there is a patio stocked with two old grape vines, an orange tree and various scented plants. to one side of the patio is another room, currently used as a storeroom, which could readily be converted into a further guest room or office. also from the patio there are steps leading down to a donkey house with original feeding trough and down again to a garden with a lemon tree and grape vine. there is also an unconverted chicken house and pig sty. the lower garden is surrounded by the original dry stone wall with doors giving access to the countryside.

Heating is by two wood burning stoves and the house is connected to mains electricity, sewage and water.
